Dear Shirley Families,
Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year! We are thrilled to welcome both new and returning families to our Shirley community. This year, we are starting off with so much to celebrate. We owe it all to the dedication of our students, staff, and YOU, our supportive families!
We’re incredibly proud to share that Shirley Elementary showed the highest SBA growth across the entire Reseda Community of Schools! Together, our students made an extraordinary, combined gain of 68 points in English Language Arts, Math, and the 5th Grade Science Test. Even more exciting, we met our SBA goals for the first time since they were set in 2022, marking a major milestone for our school community.

Attendance is up. Thank you for getting your children here every day, on time, and ready to learn!
Reclassification rates have soared. We proudly reclassified 36 English Learners, jumping from 12% to an impressive 27% reclassification rate!
These milestones are just the beginning of what we know will be an amazing year of continued growth, joy, and achievement.
At Shirley, we believe that strong partnerships with families are key to student success. We are committed to maintaining open communication, offering opportunities to get involved, and celebrating our students together. Your engagement truly makes a difference.
I also want to personally invite you to Back to School Night on Monday, August 26. We’ll kick off with an informational meeting at 5:00 p.m., where I’ll be sharing some exciting new initiatives and updates for the year ahead. Then, you’ll get to visit your child’s classroom and meet our incredible teaching team.
